Galina Chakarova is a London based film and television editor. She studied filmmaking at The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, where she wrote and directed several short films. Her very first film won a national contest and screened at the BFI London Film Festival as the opening piece to the feature "The First Grader"(dir. Justin Chadwick).
Galina has spent the last eight years editing promos, short films, documentaries and most recently TV drama. She has worked as a 1st assistant editor on highly acclaimed series such as The Crown, Master of None and Patrick Melrose. Working with some of the best practitioners in the industry has taught her invaluable lessons about structure, pacing, building performances and shaping a good story. She applies these lessons in her own editing work and loves to collaborate on brave and thought provoking projects.
Always proactive about nurturing her creativity, Galina made a 5 min film (Gliding) during the pandemic which will screen in November at the Bafta & Oscar qualifying Internationale Kurzfilmtage Winterthur.
Galina is part of BFI Network x Bafta Crew 2021 and she is an assosiate member of the British Film Editors Guild (BFE).
