Galina Chakarova is a London based film editor. She studied filmmaking at The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, where she wrote and directed several short films. Her very first film won a national contest and was screened at the BFI London Film Festival as the opening piece to the feature "The First Grader".
Straight after film school, she has had the opportunity to work on set of big budget Hollywood action films.This gave her a great insight into the collaboration between all the different departments. Galina’s love for story telling helped her start on her editorial journey, at first editing promos, short films and documentaries and later on working in drama. She has worked as an assistant editor on highly acclaimed series such as The Crown and Patrick Melrose. Her most recent editing work is currently playing at Aesthetica & Rounen This is England. She has helped many young filmmakers shape their stories into exciting and thought provoking films.
One of her latest pieces "THIS SUMMER" has just won an outstanding achievement award at Berlin Flash Film Festival.
Galina is part of Bafta Crew x Network 2020.
