Galina Chakarova is a London based film editor. She studied filmmaking at The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, where she wrote and directed several short films. Her very first film won a national contest and was screened at the BFI London Film Festival as the opening piece to the feature "The First Grader"(dir. Justin Chadwick).
Straight after film school, she was given the opportunity to work on big budget Hollywood action films. Galina’s love for story telling helped her start on her editorial journey, at first editing promos, short films and documentaries and later on working in drama. She has worked as an assistant editor on highly acclaimed series such as The Crown and Patrick Melrose. Working with some of the most established directors and editors has taught her a great deal about structure, shaping a good story, pacing and building performances. Galina applies these lessons in her own editing work. She is always looking for original and thought provoking content.
One of her latest pieces "THIS SUMMER" has just won an outstanding achievement award at Berlin Flash Film Festival.
Galina is part of BFI Network x Bafta Crew 2021
