About Me
Galina Chakarova is a London based film and television editor. She attended The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, where she wrote and directed several short films. Her very first film won a national contest and screened at the BFI London Film Festival as the opening piece to Justin Chadwick's film The First Grader.
Galina's editing work includes award winning films that have screened at festivals such as Sundance, Clermont - Ferrand, BFI London Film Festival, Aesthetica, Rhode Island International Film Festival, Kurzfilmtage Winterthur etc. She has gained a vast experience in high-end television editing drama series such as Rain Dogs (HBO), Ragdoll (AMC), Extraordinary S02 (Disney+) and Grime Kids (BBC3, premiering at BFI London Film Festival 2023). Galina recently finished editing four episodes of Queenie (Channel 4, Disney+), based on the bestselling novel by Candice Carty-Williams. Working with some of the best practitioners in the industry has taught her invaluable lessons on structure, pacing and shaping a good story. She loves to collaborate on brave and thought provoking projects. Galina has a strong eye for performances and enjoys building character arcs.
Galina is part of BAFTA Connect and she is an associate member of the British Film Editors Guild (BFE).
